D-Link Boxee Box for high definition TV

The D-Link Boxee Box DSM-380 is a small 4.5" cube-shaped box with one corner cut off which sits beside the TV. It links with the internet through its Wi-Fi or Ethernet connexions, and plugs into the TV via HDMI, S/PDIF and RCA audio inputs.  The Boxee Box can transmit 1080p full HD video to the TV. A Qwerty keyboard on the remote control can be used for search and browsing.

A computer is not required for the Boxee Box, but USB ports allow stored video files and pictures which are stored on the computer to be displayed on the TV screen. However you can download the Boxee software free to your computer, which allows you to try out the system. Mac, Linux and Windows are all enabled.

In the UK the Boxee Box has a wide range of TV and film material - upwards of 40,000 items according to the publicity - through agreements with the BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5 and others, as well as ad-supported movie services. There are special apps for YouTube, Flickr, blinkx etc. (US users have a more limited range of material).

List price of the Boxee Box is $229.99 in the US, but many discounted offers are available.
